Summary:
In
this course students will learn about microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts.
Topics covered in Economics include the following:

opportunity cost

incentives
·
marginal decision making
·
economic systems
·
globalization
·
law of supply
·
law of demand
·
types of economic competition
·
inflation/deflation
·
business cycles
·
monetary policy
·
fiscal policy
·
important economic indicators
Throughout the course students will use the economic way of thinking to solve
various economic “mysteries.” If time allows, participation in the South Dakota
Stock Market game may be incorporated into the curriculum. This course meets
the South Dakota graduation requirement for students to take Personal Finance or
Economics.

Grading
Policies:
- Late assignments are
accepted. Students who turn work in late will receive a 50% deduction from
their grade.
- Cheating and/or
plagiarism will result in a zero.
- When students are
absent it is their responsibility to get their assignments on the day they
return to school. They must also arrange to take any quizzes or tests that
they missed while absent on the day they return to school. Lesson plans are
updated weekly on my website.
- The standard BVHS
grading scale will be used in this class.
- Grades are earned, not
assigned.
Semester Test:
- The semester test is
comprehensive and comprises 20% of the semester grade. The test may consist
of matching, short answer, true/false, and essay questions.
Classroom
Expectations:
- Students will be in
the classroom and seated with the required materials out on their desk when
the bell rings.
- Students must bring
all required materials to class with them each day.
- Students will use
class time productively.
- Always have required
assignments completed on time.
- Be respectful to the
teacher, guest speakers, and your fellow students. Please do not speak when
others are speaking. Remember, everyone has a right to be heard, but not
everyone can be heard at the same time.
- No talking will be
permitted during quizzes and tests.
- Remain in your seat
until the bell rings.
- Be positive. Show up
each day ready to learn!
